DO YOU FEEL BURNT OUT AND EXHAUSTED?
Could it be your adrenal system calling for help?
What is Adrenal Fatigue/Adrenal Stress?
Adrenal Glands are two small, triangular – shaped glands that are on top of your kidneys. Along with your hypothalamus and pituitary gland the adrenals help to regulate temperature, digestion, immune system, mood, sexuality and energy usage as well as your body’s response to stress. Your adrenal gland secretes a hormone called cortisol which is much needed in times of stress – but when that stress becomes overwhelming or constant your cortisol levels can get depleted.
When that happens you might feel tired and or irritable, plus if you have been skipping meals, eating processed junk food along with sugar, not sleeping well, drinking coffee, or taking other stimulants – you are adding additional stress to your adrenals. Stress can age your body very fast!
If you experience:
- Morning or evening fatigue
- Difficulty falling or staying asleep
- Low blood pressure
- Increased irritability
- Craving salty, sugary or fatty foods
- Use coffee or energy drinks as a source of energy
It is likely you are suffering from decreased adrenal function (adrenal fatigue). The Good thing is that simple testing is available.
How do we check Adrenal Fatigue/Adrenal Stress?
Adrenal fatigue is defined by categories or stages which could be checked by Cortisol levels.
Cortisol can be measured from blood, urine, or saliva samples.
The salivary samples are collected four times throughout one day. This saliva test can be purchased at Pill Box Pharmacy and could be performed wherever you are.
